Agenda: I am starting a series of posts on ALEXA, in first post i’ll tell you what is ALEXA and what it does.
Amazon.com started a subsidiary company called Alexa Internet Inc. It provides you the analysis of your website or blog and tells you your blog’s traffic rank, pageviews per day and much more. It also compare your site with any given website. But Alexa denies themselves from being “the web informatin company”.
How it works: In brief, they collect traffic data from their increasingly popular toolbar and give reports based on collected data. Toolbar can be easily installed from their website.
In the beginning Alexa was a failure as it could easily be manipulated but with time they kept improving their algorithm of collecting data. Still lots of improvement and optimization need to be done.
So why should i care about Alexa rank: Alexa rank is not based on real traffic but sometimes it actually determines your blog’s value. Most of the webmasters calculate your blog’s worth based on alexa rank. Even many advertisers offer you a attractve deal if your alexa rank is good.
May be you are thinking that good alexa rank doesn’t mean much but one thing is for sure that low alexa rank is really bad for your blog reputation and its valuation. So why argue about it ? Start doing something which really improves your blog’s alexa rank.

@chels I know what you mean, its hard to find good help these days. People now days just don’t have the work ethic they used to have. I mean consider whoever wrote this post, they must have been working hard to write that good and it took a good bit of their time I am sure. I work with people who couldn’t write like this if they tried, and getting them to try is hard enough as it is.
While this topic can be very challenging for most people, my belief is that there has to be a middle or common ground that we all can find. I do value that you’ve added pertinent and intelligent commentary here though. Very much thanks to you!

I didn’t know that Alexa provides the value of our blogs. Then, I think that is really important have a good alexa rank, because then we can profit selling our blog
